Rumination is a real, measurable maintainer of depression and anxiety (the brooding subtype prospectively predicts who gets worse), and the evidenced fix is to change the *mode* of thinking, concrete, present, decentred, action-linked, not to follow the wellness default of "vent it out / journal your raw feelings," which the same body of evidence shows can entrench the loop. ---
